Based on the true events behind The West Memphis Three
An official trailer has been released for the upcoming crime drama Devil’s Knot. An unofficial trailer was released late last year, and the newest trailer depicts the real life events of ‘The West Memphis Three.’
Reese Witherspoon stars as Pamela Hobbs; the mother of an eight-year-old boy who discovered that her son and two other boys have been savagely murdered. Hobbs, will stop at nothing in order to find justice, and hunt down the killers. He is joined by Private Investigator Ron Lax (Colin Firth), and together they set about discovering the truth behind the murders.
The film examines the true events that occurred in West Memphis, Arkansas in 1993 in which three eight-year-old boys were discovered drowned and mutilated in a lake. Three teenagers were later arrested and charged with the murder of the young boys. During the trail, the media and prosecution proclaimed that the murders were part of a satanic ritual which invoked the teenagers to kill the young boys.
Devil’s Knot is directed by Academy Award nominee Atom Egoyan (The Sweet Hereafter, 1997) and co-stars Mireille Enos, Dane DeHaan, Kevin Durand, Elias Koteas and Amy Ryan.
Devil’s Knot is released in the US on May 9th, 2014, but a UK released date is yet to be confirmed.
